"Hi there, I'm Kannika! I am a fully qualified semi-permanent makeup brow artist based in Bristol, working independently from a private treatment room within Essential Maintenance Beauty (located in Bedminster). My focus is on eyebrow restoration for those experiencing thinning, sparse or missing eyebrows. How did I get into SPMU?
Drawing has always been a huge part of my life where I later I became obsessed with hyperrealism drawing because I love the intricate details and the challenge of starting with nothing and gradually bringing every detail together.
Hyperrealism led me to focus on portrait drawings, where I saw how small details like our brows can deeply impact our appearance and self-esteem. I realised how many people struggle with thinning or missing eyebrows... and that’s when I saw the opportunity to use my artistic skills and apply them in a more meaningful way.
I chose the name Canvas Retouch because it reflects to who I am as an artist and my creative background. My goal in starting semi-permanent makeup was not to focus on 'trendy brows' but more about helping to restore what has been missing and bringing the brows back in the most natural way possible. I specialise in Machine “Nano” Hairstrokes, working mostly on mature skin where brows naturally become thinner and losing definition. Supporting mature clients has become one of the most meaningful parts of my work, many of the women I meet tell me they feel like their brows have slowly faded as they’ve aged, taking a little of their confidence with them.
I understand how texture, sensitivity, and pigment retention can change with age to create results that heal beautifully without ever looking harsh or overdone.
