Megan’s Brow Journey: Thinning eyebrow tails
Megan, had been tinting her eyebrows at Essential Maintenance Beauty for many years. But tinting can only do so much, especially once the brow tails begin to thin. With fewer hairs for the tint to hold onto, the colour faded quickly, and that’s when Rebecca referred her to me for a longer-lasting solution.
At first, Megan didn’t know much about semi-permanent makeup, and the idea of getting her brows ‘tattooed’ felt a little scary — a really common (and totally normal!) concern I hear all the time. With her fair complexion, she was worried her brows might look too harsh or unnatural. What she really wanted was simple: to softly fill in her thinning tails while keeping her look natural and compliment her age.
During her consultation, we talked through her concerns, explored different styles, and I showed her a few mock-ups to help her visualise the results. Since Megan was used to the “tinted” look, powder brows could have been an option — but in the end, we decided that Machine ‘Nano’ Hairstrokes was the perfect choice. We chose this because the fine hairstrokes would blend seamlessly with her existing hairs and, because her skin leans a little oily, this technique would heal softer while still giving her some definition — restoring her brow shape in a way that looked natural and true to her.

One thing I always remind my clients is that brows will look darker before they lighten during healing — you really do have to trust the process! With Megan, I didn’t get a healed photo after her first session, but she kindly shared her own. Her left brow had faded more than the right (which is very normal — skin can heal differently from side to side), and that’s exactly why a touch-up is so important, especially with oilier skin. At her second session, Megan chose to go a little darker, and her healed results looked beautiful.
She kept me updated throughout her healing journey, which was especially impressive as we did her brows in the summer — not the easiest time to avoid the sun, especially on holiday! But she followed her aftercare so well, and her results speak for themselves.
Her brows now look fuller, natural, and perfectly balanced — and the best part? They frame her face without anyone being able to “tell” she’s had them done. That’s always the goal: subtle and naturalé.
